Pradaxa Recall on Alert: Bentoff & Duber Medical Recall Recap

Oct 22, 2013 |

This is the second installment of our medical recall blog series intended to provide you with the latest in medical recall and defective drug news. We do this to help keep you safe, informed and proactive. If you or someone you know has been affected by one of these recalls, contact us. We have a team of attorneys equipped to help you handle the next step.

Pradaxa Recall on Alert
It hasn’t been recalled and is still on the market, but we want to warn you about Pradaxa. This drug, typically prescribed to reduce the risk of stroke, has been linked to more than 500 deaths in the U.S. The prescription drug resource center DrugRisk.com announced that the number of lawsuits alleging this drug has caused internal bleeding or death has increased by almost 30% in recent months.

Defective Drug Reminder
Because past FDA rulings and health alerts could still be affecting patients today, we want to remind you of some of the larger stories in defective medications. If you know someone who could be suffering from side effects from these medications, contact Bentoff & Duber.

  • Birth control products Yaz® or Yasmin® are associated with a greater risk of blood clots than other forms or birth control. Blood clots can lead to deep vein thrombosis, pulmonary embolisms, heart attacks and/or strokes.
  • Diabetes medication Actos®, also called pioglitazone, is linked to increased risk of bladder cancer. In June 2011, the FDA informed the public that the use of Actos®, a treatment for those suffering from Type 2 diabetes, for more than one year is associated with an increased risk of bladder cancer. The FDA approved label changes warning of this risk in August 2011.

If you have suffered as a result of this or any other pharmaceutical manufacturer negligence, we are here to take care of you. Call us today at 216-861-1234 or submit a contact form for a free consultation.
