Recall of Introvale®, an Oral Contraceptive

Jul 10, 2012 |

Sandoz US announced a precautionary recall of Introvale®, an oral contraceptive, because of a packaging flaw. The recall is voluntary due to the low probability of the packaging flaw causing serious adverse health consequences. The Food and Drug Administration is aware of the recall.

The lot numbers, distributed between January 2011 and May 2012, involved in the recall are: LF00478C, LF00479C, LF00551C, LF00552C, LF00687C, LF00688C, LF00763C, LF00764C, LF00765C and LF01261C.

The white placebo tablets, often called sugar pills, were mistakenly in the ninth row rather than in the correct 13th row. Because of this, the risk of unplanned pregnancy could happen to any patient taking this medication.
